Jewish day schools headed back to classrooms (CJN)

While many public schools on the east side of Cleveland will begin the school year remotely, Jewish day schools will offer in-person instruction in the fall for the first time since mid-March.

Citing pedagogical considerations, small class sizes and relatively large classrooms, heads of schools said they believe they can protect their students and offer higher quality instruction than can be offered remotely. In addition, at least two day schools are offering remote learning options.

We regret to inform you of the passing of Pinhas Maoz, z”l, father of Noa (Noki) Baskin, brother to Rebbetzin Galupkin, father in-law to Ben Baskin and loving grandfather to Shir, Oriya, Avner, Amos, and Lavie Baskin. The funeral took place today in Kiryat Shaul, Israel.

Rbbetzin Galupkin will be sitting Shiva at her home, 2516 Bishop Rd, Wickliffe until Tuesday morning. Nichum aveilim hours: 1:00 – 5:30 pm. Masks required. At other times, she can be reached by phone, 440-943-6200.

Noki will be sitting shiva at her house on 23205 Ranch Road, Beachwood during the following times:

  • Friday (August 14th): 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Sunday (August 16th): 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM, 7:00 – 9:00 PM
  • Monday (August 17th): 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM, 7:00 – 9:00 PM

Masks required.

Magazine Gemach Updates

Cleveland Gemachs

  1. We are only taking magazines with a 2020 publication date. Please do not leave anything older than this.
  2. The gemach takes magazines in good condition only; no newspapers please.
  3. We collect Mishapacha, Family First, Binah, Ami, Inyan, Zman, Juniors, Bina bunch and AIMs.  Please remove all other mailings.
  4. Drop off is any time on the porch of 2424 Beachwood Blvd
  5. NEW SYSTEM: There are now separate bins labeled for each publication. Please take a few extra minutes to separate the magazines into their correct bins. If there are no bins, please just leave the magazines in bags on the porch.

Master Hilchos Shabbos

Join a structured online program designed for both avreichim and balebatim. It is based on Rav Yitzchak Berkovits’s famous smicha program. Very useful for your life and for your family to feel that the father has learnt these halachos and can answer questions that come up all the time. Sources are from the Gemara through to the modern poskim with clear explanations both in Hebrew and English. Email and phone support with any questions. Option to be part of the chabura with a weekly Zoom shiur (or to do it at your own pace). Join over 100 people who participated in this program. Receive smicha from Rav Yehonason Gefen the talmid of R. Yitzchak Berkovits. Program is starting 1st of Elul.
