Please join us for “Refuting Common BDS Arguments,” featuring Noam Gilboord, Director of Community Strategy for the Israel Action Network.

Noam will teach effective communications tactics to counter arguments of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Movement. Participants will discuss accusations imposed against Israel such as, “Israel is an Apartheid State,” and “U.S. Military Aid to Israel Must Cease,” while also examining the BDS Movement’s self-portrayal as a peace movement.

There is now a new opportunity for members of the CH-UH neighborhoods to purchase passes to used the John Carroll pool from 9/21-12/18/15. The hours are 11am – 1pm and 7:30-9:00 pm, M-F, and 1-6 Saturdays and Sundays.  The cost of the pass varies, depending upon if you’re joining as single member, 2 people or a family.  JCU’s “Natatoriu” is located at the corner of Belvoir and Washington. At this time, assume you cannot use the parking lot adjacent to the pool.  You’ll need to park on a side street, but that may change. It is limited to a total of 30 people, and some slots are already taken. If you care for more information, please send an email to johncarrollswim2015@gmail.com. JCU has been terrific, allowing this to happen, and I do hope this can go on beyond 12/18. There are no specific men/ women hours and these sessions will take place during the times that the pool is under general use.

On Erev Yom Kippur it’s a customary to give charity generously. Tzedakah is a great source of merit and serves as protection against harsh decrees.

The city’s mammoth, 170,000-square-foot service department garage was the scene Sunday afternoon for the 16th Annual Honkin’, Haulin’ Hands On touch-a-truck event.

A lot of space was, indeed, needed as more than 1,000 people from Beachwood and surrounding communities came out to play. The youngest attendees had the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat of city plow trucks and police and emergency vehicles. Parents were seen all about snapping pictures of their children in the life-size Tonka toys.
