TLC Recovery Program for Compulsive Eating

TLC (To Learn Control) is a Torah based 13 step recovery program for women dealing with compulsive eating.  Join us to learn the secrets from Rebbetzin Moskowitz (Rabbi Ezriel Tauber’s daughter) for permanent weight loss and how to feel like the beautiful Bas Melech that Hashem made you.  Gain chizuk through readings from Rabbi Zelig Pliskin “My Father My King” and “Conversations with Yourself” as well as “Praying with Fire” by Rabbi Heshy Kleinman.

City Eruv Survives Last Minute Crisis

hardhatThe Cleveland Community Eruv required complex last minute repairs last Friday afternoon.  An ongoing construction project created a major breach in the Eruv very late Thursday afternoon.  Materials had to be purchased at retail erev Shabbos.

Signal Service Co., which built the Eruv 30 years ago and has maintained it ever since, worked long hours to remedy the issue. Under the direction of the dedicated mashgiach, Rabbi Eliyahu Meir Rennert, the Eruv was functional by Shabbos.

Looking to hire:

Director: To run programs and events to inspire, enable and promote kiruv rechokim in the frum community. Part-time position.

Female Coordinator:  As above for women. Particular focus will be on activating the frum community to recruit less affiliated women to educational Israel trips and involve frum women in the follow up on their return. Part-time position.

Kashrus Alerts – Pareve Chocolate “Chip Blues”

Whole Foods Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips and Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunks are no longer certified Pareve. They are certified Dairy when bearing the Circle-K D symbol. Products that
do not yet bear the D are still considered Pareve.

• Kirkland Signature brand frozen Blueberries/Raspberries/Strawberries (sold at Costco stores) bears a BCK symbol and the Hebrew words, “zakuk l’bedikas toloyim”(needs to be checked for insects). The certification is for the processing agents only. While the company checks for insects, this does NOT meet the halachic requirement, and those who require checking on frozen berries will need to check these too. In the future the Hebrew words will be replaced by an English statement: “toloyim inspection required”

CH-UH board eyes Millikin sale to Mosdos

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights School Board directed the school administration last week to enter negotiations with Mosdos Ohr Hatorah for the sale of the former Millikin School at 1700 Crest Road in Cleveland Heights. The former school has been vacant since 2006.

Board members said at a work session that the district should attempt to obtain a fair market value for the Millikin building and property. They set a deadline of Oct. 15 for negotiations to be completed.

Sukkah Needed to Borrow

For medical reasons, a family in our community is in need of an easy-to-put-up sukkah that can seat a minimum of 4 persons. It would be borrowed for this year and then returned promptly. Volunteers are already available to put it together and deliver it- just the sukkah is needed. Please call 216-932-1596.
