October 25, 2017 Leave a Comment

This past Sunday, October 22, a crowd of over 650 people gathered at Young Israel in Beachwood for an event titled “Better Together”. The goal of the evening was to bring together the Cleveland community to raise awareness and support people struggling with mental health challenges. Better Together was co-sponsored by two trailblazing organizations in the field of mental health; Naaleh, which provides mental health referrals and support, and Yesh Tikvah, which provides financial assistance for mental health services.

The evening’s program was opened by Dr. Meir Pollack, Chairman of the Board of Yesh Tikvah. Dr. Pollack described the growing need for help and support for mental illness in the community. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for the ongoing generous efforts of local supporters who make the work of Yesh Tikvah possible, before introducing the keynote speaker, Rabbi Ephraim Eliyahu Shapiro of North Miami Beach, Florida. From the moment Rabbi Shapiro took the stage, the audience was enraptured, hanging on to every word of his impassioned presentation.

August 8, 2017 Leave a Comment

Yesh Tikvah announced today it has been named a “2017 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews of charities and nonprofits.

Yesh Tikvah provides financial assistance to the Jewish community in Cleveland, saving marriages, families and lives.

“We are honored to be named a 2017 Top-Rated Nonprofit,” says Dr. Meir Pollack, Chairman of the YT Board of Directors. We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including expanding

The Top-Rated Nonprofit Award is the based on the rating and number of reviews that Yesh Tikvah received from volunteers, donors and aid recipients.

One of our clients posted this review, “If I had not heard about the great work being done by Yesh Tikvah I shudder to think how much further my downward spiral would have continued. This is an amazing and (unfortunately) necessary organization, and I am confident that the lives of those whom YT has helped would presently be impossibly bleak if it were not for their aid”. “Yesh Tikvah is a great example of a nonprofit making a real difference in their community,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “Their award is well-deserved recognition not only of their work, but the tremendous support they receive, as shown by the many outstanding reviews they have received from people who have direct experience working with Yesh Tikvah”.

Yesh Tikva and Early Intervention

February 21, 2017 Leave a Comment

At Yesh Tikvah, we understand that problems like depression, anxiety, and substance abuse affect a whole family, not just an individual. The distress of one family member sends ripples that affect everyone in his life. With that in mind, Yesh Tikvah is making a concerted effort to provide early intervention for mental health care issues.

“If we intervene with young people before they get married, and have families,” asserts Board Member Mrs. Marilyn Berger, “they will develop the skills to form more stable relationships.” Referring to the teens that have been funded to date, Mrs. Berger explains, “The families of these teens are benefiting now, and the new families they form will be more successful in the future.”

As part of our commitment to early intervention, we have begun funding help for Cleveland students who are out of town at yeshiva or seminary. These years are pivotal in the development of a young adult on the verge of independence. We are enabling these students to work through problems before they form new family units.

We are happy to announce that we will be offering ten more slots for teen clients, thanks to the generosity of the community and our sponsors. Yesh Tikvah commends you all for helping us achieve our mission of giving Clevelanders access to mental health care, regardless of their finances.

We operate with utmost confidentiality. To apply please email or call Rabbi Joseph at alj@ytforhope.org 216 403 2726
