Saltzman Youth Panel Accepting Nominations and Applications for 2020-2021 School Year
Jewish high school juniors and seniors interested in strengthening the Jewish community and making the world a better place are encouraged to apply for the 2020-2021 Maurice Saltzman Youth Panel (SYP), a program of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. As a group, panelists recommend the distribution of up to $45,000 in grant funding to worthy programs in the Jewish and general communities. Participants will develop their leadership and group consensus skills as they learn about the philanthropic process and responding to community needs.
Educators, youth professionals, and leadership are being called upon for nominations, to share this information with eligible teens, and to encourage students to apply. Please send in your nominations of rising high school juniors and seniors by August 7th, 2020. Please provide email address and grade along with parent contact information, if possible.
Applications and additional information are available at www.jewishcleveland.org/saltzman. Applications are due by Friday, August 14th, 2020. Applicants will be notified of their status no later than Wednesday, August 26th, 2020. Nominations for potential panelists can come from rabbis, religious school directors, youth group advisors, friends or family. Affiliation with a Jewish organization or congregation is not required for consideration.
Selection to the Saltzman Youth Panel is highly selective and requires true commitment from its members. Selected students are required to (virtually) attend eight scheduled sessions throughout the year, a presentation to the Federation’s Board of Trustees , High School Division Campaign events, and conduct outside research. A calendar of dates and other FAQs can be found here.
The Maurice Saltzman Youth Grant Program of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland was established in the spring of 1998 through a generous gift from the Saltzman family in memory of the late Maurice Saltzman. The program perpetuates the goals of Maurice Saltzman, a past president of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, who cared deeply about educating the next generation of Jewish community leadership.

Join the Telshe Yeshiva Annual Campaign and Keep Torah Thriving at Telshe
Each year at Telshe Yeshiva of Cleveland we host our annual dinner to honor our alumni and celebrate the Torah of Telshe Yeshiva. This year things are different and we had to adapt to the challenge Hakadosh Baruch Hu sent our way. Instead of a dinner we are hosting this 36 hour campaign in the hopes that our fellow Yidden will see it fit to support the cause of Torah and allow us to continue reaching great heights in Ruchnius and Yiddishkeit.
The Telshe Yeshiva of Cleveland has been a bastion of Torah in America for nearly 80 years. Throughout its illustrious history, thousands of lomdei Torah have grown to become role models and Torah leaders. They continue to relive and build upon their experiences again through the next generation of children and talmidim.
We chose to host our fundraiser during the 9 days leading up to the biggest destruction in Jewish history- the destruction of our Beis Hamikdash. It’s specifically on days like these that we need to be reminded that Torah is forever and nowhere is that message clearer than at Telshe Yeshiva.
Your donation sustains the precious Torah learned by each Telshe talmid! Please support the yeshiva’s unwavering endeavors in הרבּצת התורה
