Shalom America Purim Special With Live Megillah Reading

For the 39th consecutive year, “Phil Fink’s Shalom America” will present a live reading of Megilat Esther – The Story of Esther – on Cleveland radio.  This year’s reading will be part of the weekly two hour broadcast of “Shalom America” broadcast on WELW 1330 AM from  7:00 am – 9:00 AM on Purim day, Sunday, February 24.  Shalom America host Phil Fink will be joined once again by his son and co-host Shawn, the producer of the weekly Jewish-themed program, Dr. Mark Lovinger will return to read the Megillah.

Rebbetzin Becky (Fine) Charlop a”h

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rebbetzin Becky (Fine) Charlop a”h of Cleveland. Mrs. Charlop had battled illness for the last while and was in the ICU of the Cleveland Clinic, with Yidden davening for Rivka Chana bas Devorah Leah.

Mrs. Charlap was a daughter of Rav and Rebbetzin Mordechai Dov Fine, the beloved rov and rebbetzin of Congregation Machzikei Hadas of Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Thank you for your patronage and friendship these last six years.

We will be transitioning our business model from that of retail sales to providing client services.  As such, we plan to shift much of our time and expertise from the present environment of selling health products to a largely counseling service model for general health, nutrition, and weight loss.

In preparation for these upcoming changes the current Central Health store will be closed so that we can apply our time to finishing certification exams.

The Gemara, Megilah 7b states, אמר רבא מיחייב איניש לבסומי בפוריא עד דלא ידע בין ארור המן וברוך מרדכי” “Rava said, “One is obligated to get intoxicated on Purim until he does not know Arur Haman from Baruch Mordechai.” The Gemara then relates the incident in which Raba and Rabi Zeira were conducting their Purim meal together when Raba became so intoxicated that he went ahead and ‘slaughtered’ Rabi Zeira. The next day Raba prayed on behalf of Rabi Zeira, and he was miraculously resurrected.
