Matan B’Sayer is working on a delicious new cookbook based on the submitted recipes of community members. Already some excellent recipes have been submitted and a preview of the cookbook with many recipes is available as a free download.
On the last page of the booklet there is a form to submit your own recipes with a deadline of July 18th. The cookbook should be ready for purchase just in time for the Yomim Tovim.

Oheb Zedek-Cedar Sinai Synagogue has an early mincha maariv throughout the summer timed so that mincha is before plag hamincha and maariv can davened immediately afterwards. This upcoming week mincha is scheduled for 7:15 pm.

As co-owner of Unger’s Kosher Market in Cleveland Heights, Malka Rosenberg has a busy schedule.

Police in University Heights are cracking down on people using their cellphones while driving.
The city’s new ordinance states no one can use a cellphone to talk or text behind the wheel.
A driver is allowed to use a voice-operated or hands-free device.
For a first offense, a person will be fined $100; a second offense $250; any others after that will be fined $500.
People in violation will start being cited on July 15.

(Ed: It is very much appreciated that WKYC took the time to visit our community and report on this story. However, not every detail appears correct. There were many more incidents than the report mentions (mentioning just 3) and it appears that the suspect is frequenting other areas besides Cleveland Heights (which is a big part of this story and is not discussed). The strong response of CH police also is very appropriately highlighted.)

UPDATE: There has been a lot of action regarding this situation over the last 48 hours. Police in CH and other areas are taking this situation very seriously. Frequent surveillance and even undercover agents have been put into place. This posting has received over 12k views and seems to be getting a lot of attention so the word is getting out all over the county. One reason that there have been so many views is that there may be activity from the suspect in other neighborhoods too, possibly as far away as Lakewood.
However, it should be stated that there was an error in that our initial reporting indicated that he has physically “lured” children. This was not based on any real reports, just community back-and-forth. He is not doubt dangerous, and to be taken very seriously but so far he has followed, made faces, spoken to young female children, but not actually gotten out of his car.
