We regret to inform you of the passing of Nili Adler, the wife of Rabbi Moshe Adler of Beth El-The Heights Synagogue in Cleveland Heights, devoted her life to teaching people Hebrew and the importance of Hebrew education. After a long battle with an illness, Adler died on Feb. 25. She was 71. “She was extremely passionate about making sure the Hebrew language didn’t dissipate and die out,” said Sheryl Hirsh, the assistant director of Jewish Lifelong Learning of the Siegal Lifelong Learning Program at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, who worked with Adler for 15 years.

We regret to inform you of the passing of Rabbi Nathan (Nate) Berman, z”l, husband to Rochel Berman, father to two sons and a daughter, and a friend to everyone. The levayah will take place Sunday, March 2nd, 2014, 11am at Berkowitz-Kumin. Burial will take place in Eretz Yisroel in Bais Shemesh. Shiva will be at the Berman home, 3719 Bendemeer Road, Cleveland Heights. Shiva details to follow. LJN Community Calendar
(Repost from 2 months ago. So far it is going great. There are tons of events on the calendar including every event posted to LJN!) We are very pleased to announce the debut of the LJN Community Calendar. For a long while, schools and organizations have been asking for an Orthodox community-wide calendar to keep track of events and reduce the amount of double-scheduling.
There is now a page known as Community Calendar (link is at the top of the main page) which will list all events posted to LocalJewishNews as well as all events that are submitted . Events posted to LJN will automatically be added to the calendar, but if something is missing please let us know.

Chaverim of Cleveland Celebrates Second Anniversary
If you’ve ever experienced a flat tire as you’re rushing to the airport to make a flight or your car not starting as your kids get ready for morning carpool — then you can certainly appreciate the importance of the work Chaverim does.
Chaverim is comprised of a group of 25 dedicated volunteers, including 4 dispatchers, who are trained and ready to be of service for just about any and all non-medical emergency situations that may arise. From giving “dead” cars a boost, to delivering hospital equipment to those needing it at home, to helping set up a shivah home, Chaverim is on call 24/6 to assist the community out in whatever way they can.
