(Hakhel) A few brief notes below from the Sefer Kovetz Halachos: Yomim Noraim by Rabbi Doniel Kleinman, Shlita, containing the pesokim of HaRav Shmuel Kamenetsky, Shlita :
A. One must recite Birkas HaTorah before reciting Selichos.
B. It is better to recite less Selichos with Kavannah, than more without Kavannah–however one should always be careful to recite the 13 Midos together with the Tzibbur.
C. We wash and take haircuts on Erev Rosh Hashanah to demonstrate our faith that Hashem will perform a miracle for us and find us innocent on Rosh Hashanah. Even though one may take a haircut a day or two before Rosh Hashanah, it is still a greater Kavod Yom Tov to take it Erev Rosh Hashana itself.

Torah LIFE Kollel’s monthly raffle is now in its second year! Every month Torah LIFE Kollel, will be raffling off a $750 gift card or gift certificate. For ONLY $8.33 a month, or $100 for the year, you will be entered into the next 12 monthly raffle drawings, and you will have the zechus of supporting Torah.
Due to the holiday schedule, this week Drazin’s will be doing food distribution Tuesday at 4pm, and Appel’s Tuesday 5:30pm. Supplies may be more limited this week.
* Drazin’s in Cleveland Heights – 3559 Severn Road, every Wednesday between 4:30 and 5:30pm.
* Appel’s in Beachwood – Every Wednesday 5-7 pm. Take used clothing as well or stay and help us sort for a bit!!

We regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Gail Shapiro, sister of Harav Anshel Helman, mashgiach of the Telshe Mechina. Rav Helman will be sitting shiva in his home, 28602 Yeshiva Lane until Rosh Hashana.

We are excited to announce the schedule for the High Holidays. Please note that we have a limited supply of machzorim so please plan to bring yours if you have one. We are using “Machzor Yechavah Da’at” but any Sephardi machzor should work just fine.
