Looking for a State-of-Ohio (or ability to become) licensed female teacher with a background or certification in special education to work with a female, high school-aged student. The candidate will have experience working with students in the mid to upper grade levels. The candidate will be available during the school year for approximately 15/20 hours per week, from about 1:00-3:30/4:00 daily, to give one-on-one instruction to student during school hours. Familiarity with IEPs is desirable and our focus would be on practical math skills and life skills, and on reading comprehension. This would be a great opportunity for a qualified retired teacher or a qualified teacher with availability in the afternoons throughout the school year. Cleveland Heights Citizens Police Academy
The Cleveland Heights Citizens Police Academy is now accepting applications for it’s 2015 class. The academy begins August 11 and will meet every Tuesday and Wednesday for 6 weeks and ending with a graduation ceremony on September 30. “It is our goal that the Citizens Academy will help to foster a deeper understanding between police officers and the community,” said Police Chief Jeff Robertson.

Cleveland Heights will raise water rates as interim measure to cap deficit

Water rates for the average Cleveland Heights residential customer will rise by 21 percent — from $53.79 to $65.04 a month — starting Aug. 1.
In addition, water service fees for commercial customers will increase from $10 to between $20 and $68, depending on the size of their meters. Service fees for residents now paying $10 a month will not change.

Volunteers are needed for the Annual Fall CemeteryCleanup hosted by the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Jewish Volunteer Network and the Commission on Cemetery Preservation (COCP). The event will take place on Sunday, August 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Chesed Shel Emeth (Ridge Road #1), 3740 Ridge Road, Cleveland. All ages are welcome to participate in this community-wide event, rain or shine.
