There are numerous references in this week’s parsha, Ki Savo, to blessings, praises and thanksgivings to Hashem. This provides excellent opportunity to discuss thebrocha of Yishtabach and the Kaddish and Borchu that follow.

Avraham asks: “In the shullen in which I used to daven, during the aseres yemei teshuvah we always recited the chapter of tehillim, “Shir hama’alosmima’amakim,” right after Yishtabach. Someone recently told me that the reason why I do not see this custom practiced any more is because it is a hefsek in thedavening. Is this true?”

Water bills in Cleveland Heights would stabilize, then drop if city turns system over to Cleveland Division of Water

waterglass(Cleveland.com)(Summary: Council did not reach consensus Monday. Councilman Jason Stein said council, which is asking voters to approve an income-tax increase in November, should jump at the chance to save residents money by joining the Cleveland water system.)

The average quarterly water bill for residents would drop to $166.40 in 2017, remain stable through 2023 and fall to $112.29 in 2024, if the city turns its water system over to the Cleveland Division of Water.

In comparison, the existing average quarterly rate of $195.08 would rise steadily to $213.21 by 2024, if the city maintains control of the water system, with help from an outside firm.
