Looking for down payment assistance for a future home purchase?
New home buyers to the Cleveland area, should note the following important news updates:
- The Cuyahoga County NHSGC down payment assistance program is now closed as funds have already been committed as of August 23, 2013. This would have been relevant to residents of Cleveland Heights, University Heights, and Beachwood and this program did help several new community members.
- The Cleveland Heights up to $10,000 down payment assistance program remains open and accepting new people.
- Visit the Northeast Ohio Real Estate Source web page for information on other similar programs.
- University Heights and Beachwood do not have any specific programs for down payment assistance.

City Eruv Survives Last Minute Crisis
The Cleveland Community Eruv required complex last minute repairs last Friday afternoon. An ongoing construction project created a major breach in the Eruv very late Thursday afternoon. Materials had to be purchased at retail erev Shabbos.
Signal Service Co., which built the Eruv 30 years ago and has maintained it ever since, worked long hours to remedy the issue. Under the direction of the dedicated mashgiach, Rabbi Eliyahu Meir Rennert, the Eruv was functional by Shabbos.

While the company checks for insects, this does NOT meet the halachic requirement, and those who require checking on frozen berries will need to check these too. In the future the Hebrew words will be replaced by an English statement: “toloyim inspection required”
