Stanley and Esther Waxman Community Mikvah (Beachwood Mikvah) Yom Tov Hours for Men & Women

The men’s mikvah will be open erev Rosh Hashana until 9am and again starting at 1pm.

Men erev Yom Kippur until 8:30am and again starting at 1pm.

Women erev Yom Kippur 9:30am-11:30am.

$5. Please bring your own towels.

Cleveland Kosher Rosh Hashana Simanim Guide

Honey:
Requires Kosher certification

Dates:
Domestic dates do not require kosher certification. It is advisable to split open three dates to check for worms.

Note: If dates are from Israel they require reliable certification to ensure that terumos and maasros have been separated.

Shredded Cabbage:
Acceptable with a reliable Kosher certification

Raw Cabbage:
Separate the leaves and soak in soap solution for two minutes and agitate. Then wash both sides of leaf under stream of water. Be sure to open the folds and crevices as you wash.

Leek:
If using the green shoots slit open and wash under stream of water. If using the bottom portion split along the length and wash thoroughly.

Spinach:
Soak in soap solution for two minutes and agitate. Wash each leaf under stream of water.

Black Eyed Peas:
Does not require checking unless there is reason to suspect infestation.

Please note selichos begin at 6:40am and davening starts at 7am.

We regret to inform you of the passing of Dr.  Stanley Bolotin (Shlomo ben Anschel), father of Fred Bolotin.

The levaya will be Sunday in New York at New Mt.  Carmel cemetery (graveside) at 2:30pm.

Fred will be sitting shiva in Cleveland beginning Monday afternoon.

Minyanim will be: Shacharis, Tuesday through Friday, slichos at 6:40am and davening at 7am and Mincha, Monday-Thursday at 7:40pm at 2383 Miramar Blvd in University Heights.

We regret to inform you of the passing of Trudy Robbins, Chaya Tzivia Masha bas Yehudis, sister of Chaim Zwick, Toni Senders, Troy Zwick, and Tim Zwick. The funeral will be Monday, September 3rd at 3pm in Atlanta.

The family will be sitting shiva starting Wednesday, September 5th, at the home of Chaim and Channi Zwick, 2340 Milton Road.

Minyanim:

  • Shacharis – Thursday, Friday, and Sunday: 7am slichos; 7:30am davening
  • Mincha – Wednesday, and Thursday: 7:40pm
  • Mincha – Friday: 2pm.

Shiva Hours

  • Wednesday: 2-5 & 7-10
  • Thursday :10-12, 2-5, & 7-10
  • Friday: 10-2
  • Motzei shabbos: 9:30-11

  • September 10th,11th,18th, &19th – Gesher will be closed for the High Holidays.
  • Monday, September 24th – Tuesday, October 2nd – Gesher will be closed for the Succos holiday. There will be no County drop off on Thursday, September 27th. The last County drop off in September will be on Thursday, September 20th.

Cleveland Heights Rosh Hashanah Vasikin Minyan Merges with Kollel Choshen Mishpat Minyan

We are excited to announce that the annual Rosh Hashanah Vasikin Minyan will be held at Kollel Choshen Mishpat. Davening will begin 6:05am.

Cost for Rosh Hashanah is $25. Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur (begins 7:45am) is $40. Or purchase a seat for the entire year for only $75!

We regret to inform you of the passing of Tuvia Main, beloved husband of Yehudit (nee Hamm); devoted father of Channa (Uri) Schulgasser, Yosef (Chaia) , Malka (Tim) Tracey, and Atira Main; loving grandfather of Yechezel, Zachara, Achie Zer, Temina Rosa, Orel, Enamul, Shirel, Matonel, Bertrum Boaz; dear brother of Tim (Joyce) and Tina (Gregg) Castillo.

The levaya will be Wednesday, August 29 at 1pm at the Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 South Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Young Israel Section.

Shiva will be at the Main Residence, 3524 Blanche Ave., Cleveland Heights until Tuesday morning.

Contributions are suggested to Young Israel Congregation.
