Many have already begun to receive their stimulus packages, some in full and some in part. Here are a few things you should know regarding your stimulus package.
- If you have not filed taxes in 2018 or 2019, you can file a simple tax return which you can find here.
- If you have not yet received your payment, you can track your payment here.
- If you have not received the full payment for yourself or your dependent, you will be able to receive that money in the form of a tax credit on your 2020 tax return. Keep in mind that anyone above the age of 16 who can be claimed on someone else’s tax return will not be eligible for the stimulus money.
- The stimulus money is not taxable and will not affect your CHIP and Medicaid eligibility.
- You will receive your stimulus payment in the same method that you receive your tax refund. You can update the IRS with your bank information here.
- SSI and VA benefit recipients with qualifying dependents will need to register their dependents to receive the additional payments and can do so here. Other SSA and RRB recipients who have missed the deadline for registering their dependents will be able to file a special tax return for tax year 2020.
