why is the focus only on Cleveland Heights, wouldn’t it be better to advertise the whole city?

I love how this website is focusing on Cleveland Heights, yet most of the products/services/locations it mentions are found elsewhere in the Jewish community. I find this downright appalling.

Lashout I am not sure that is such a big deal. I just think Cleveland is a small enough place it would have been nice if you where going to make a site to advertise a community within Cleveland to just advertise them all.

The fact that these services are not all in CH doesnt make CH not a great place to live they are still advantages of moving to CH if you lived out out town. But they are also advantages of moving to any of the communities in cleveland. We are one big community hence why I said it would be nice to include the whole city.

I find it downright insulting to the broader frum cleveland community to specify cleveland hts, rather than “jewish cleveland”. i think it would even make those looking at cleveland to wonder about the achdus or lack thereof.

Why does the site say that houses start at under $150,000? Most people in CH (including me) bought houses for a lot less than that.

I really do not know what the big deal is here. Yes, Cleveland is one big community but each of the different subcommunities has something unique to offer. So why can’t CH promote its unique qualities without having to talk about UH and Bchwood too? Its a a free country and each community can have its own website too. There is no misleading info or lack of fairness. The city never says it is better than UH or Bchwood. So what if the schools are elsewhere?

josephClevelander you are right I just think it would have been better to have advertised all of Cleveland. we are small you can have sections for each of the smaller communities in Cleveland just advertise them all. I personally dont think there is anything wrong with CH promoting itself I just see that because the total community in Cleveland is small it would be better to advertise it as a whole instad of as parts.

The reason why the website is not promoting Bchwood or UH is because they do not need to be promoted. People are moving there anyways, and those neighborhoods are growing rapidly.

Unfortunately, Clvlnd Hts id not. Even many Clvlnd Hts’ers children who are moving back, are moving tothe other neighborhoods.

I just don’t think a website is going to do the trick. On the contrary, a good product sells itself, and does not need to be advertised and pushed. When you see a school or Yeshiva which advertises too much, obviously there is a reason they need to do so. An established Yeshiva rarely advertises. They do not need to.

If people are not moving back to Cleveland Heights, maybe they should try to figure out why not. Why are people preferring the other neighborhoods? Why do people feel more welcomed there?

Addressing the issue will be much more effective than the website!

I hadn’t bothered to look at the website until I saw all of the comments. Wow! I have to thank you so much for the complaints. Without them, I wouldn’t have seen such a beautiful website!

This was clearly put together by a person who really loves his/her community and wanted to share it. Look at the links he/she provides: HAC, Mosdos, and Mizrachi (as well as many others). I can’t know for sure (it wasn’t me), but it seems very obvious that this wasn’t done by a person with a political agenda. I have a strange idea, but I can almost guarantee that the complainers will not take this advice. Show your own love for UH/Beechwood and make a matching site. I’ll bet you that this person would be glad to link to your site. Stop complaining and start doing good.

As a relative newcomer to Cleveland, I would suggest that the naysayers are too attached to a non-existent rivalry. I love living in Cleveland Heights, but we recognize UH/Beechwood as a wonderful community as well.

To the one(s) behind jewishclevelandheights.com, kol hakavod on a great website.

The web site is a great idea and nicely done. Y’K to those involved in its creation. As for a few of those negative people making disparaging remarks; please try to be more positive. All 3 Frum Cleveland communities are great and from what I observe, are growing! LJN, please filter comments that attack and are mean spirited against an entire frum population.

Seriously, You maybe right I only said this as I would hope as a community we would see us as one and not CH, UH, Beachwood, etc as just Cleveland. We are not a huge place and should be united in are efforts in everything. If we want to bring people to town we should all work together not have ch try and get people or uh people try to get people, just Cleveland people get people to move to Cleveland.

I dont want to see a UH site or a CH site I want to see a Jewish Cleveland site which includes ALL the cities maybe with sections for each but the goal is to get people to know about Cleveland not such one town or the other.

To “Hate to Say It”: “…Even many Clvlnd Hts’ers children who are moving back, are moving tothe other neighborhoods…”

Many (certainly not all) are moving to UH because that’s part of their deal to join a kollel.

Also, you say: “… a good product sells itself, and does not need to be advertised and pushed…”

Tell that to Coke, Apple, Budweiser, Proctor & Gamble…

    w.r.n.s,

I hear you, and I tend to agree. However, still the best reaction, I think, would be to contact them and see if they would work with you to include the other neighborhoods. Once it’s already up, they could add a UH/Bchwd page relatively easily.

It could include a nice couple of paragraphs saying that those neighborhoods aren’t afterthoughts. It was just set up originally this way. This is all conjecture of course. The “Baal HaWebsite” might want nothing to do with this. If the owner agrees, it would also be very easy to buy another domain name that goes to that site. Considerjewishcleveland.com or something of the sort. Anyway, I appreciate your tone!

    Kol Tuv!

To the creator(s) of the website, fyi the inventors hall of fame (inventure place) is just a public school now. We went there once and were disappointed.

I would include the metroparks in your links, and the shaker lakes. And that our library system is one of the best in the country.

I would also suggest adding detailed info about the restaurants, with links to menus and preferably pictures too. That’s a big factor for a lot of people!

And more details about shuls, because if people find this site when they’re googling about an upcoming business trip to cleveland, they need that info.

    Nice job on the site!
