The recent breach of 40 million credit and debit card numbers at Target has begun to make people question the security of their information and money in a new way, especially to consider using credit cards instead of debit cards.
Paper or Plastic: What Have You Got to Lose? is an in-depth analysis written by the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse that explains the pros and cons of debit and credit as well as what your rights are, and what to do if your information has been either used or compromised. It is definitely a good read to make sure that you are prepared.
Unfortunately times are tough for many of our community members. A not well-known program available to those receiving public assistance is the PRC which can assist with paying unanticipated short-term shelter, vehicle, and job training expenses.
