Two new hotels opening this week: Hyatt Place-Legacy Village, SpringHill Suites-Independence

Two new hotels in Greater Cleveland are opening this week – just in time for an influx of GOP guests next month.

Opening today: SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Independence. And Tuesday: The Hyatt Place at Legacy Village in Lyndhurst.

Lyndhurst City Hall hosts first-ever menorah lighting ceremony

About 100 people gathered Thursday evening on the front front lawn of the Lyndhurst municipal complex to see a first.

The candles atop the large menorah that stands on the lawn along Mayfield Road during the Hannukah season were lit as part of a ceremony that included city officials and Rabbi Mendy Freedman.

“This is the first time in over 50 years that we have lit a menorah on public property in Lyndhurst,” said Mayor Joseph Cicero, who later clarified that it is believed to be the first time ever.

Lyndhurst kosher grocer a go

A New York entrepreneur is one step closer to building a kosher grocery store on Mayfield Road in Lyndhurst.

Israel Blackman, who owns an electronics distribution company, bought a  1.6-acre vacant lot from Mark Sims last month for $700,000. A sign has been erected on the property announcing the “glatt kosher supermarket” is on its way.

Brooklyn-based NGKS Marketing to bring NY-Style Kosher Shopping to Cleveland

New York has seen a plethora of openings of mega-supermarkets that cater to the Kosher market. Now, a group of investors from Brooklyn has decided to bring the concept to Cleveland.

NGKS Marketing has paid $700,000 for a property upon which they will be building a 20,000 square foot supermarket.

NY developer buys Lyndhurst lot for glatt kosher grocery

A kosher supermarket is firmly in the cards for Lyndhurst now that a Brooklyn, N.Y., business owner paid $700,000 for a 1.6-acre lot at the southwestern corner of Mayfield and Richmond roads.

Chuck Essreg of Kowit & Co. Real Estate Group, who handled the deal, said Nov. 2 that Israel Y. Blackman, who is president of Discover Group, plans to build a “glatt kosher supermarket” on the lot.
