Aldi and Costco Kashrus Alerts from Cleveland Kosher

Currently at Aldi there is a mixture of kosher and non-kosher frosting items on the shelf. Aldi has four flavors of its private label Baker’s Corner Frosting: Vanilla, Cream Cheese, Chocolate and Milk Chocolate. Those marked with the OU are certified, while those not marked with the OU are not kosher.

The clementines sold at Costco are currently product of Israel and require separation of Terumos and Ma’aser.

Tomer Brand Meat at Costco is NOT Glatt Kosher

There is a new line of meat from Tomer, which is certified by Triangle K and Rabbi Elimelech Lebowitz. Please note that this meat is non-glatt and is not on STAR-K’s list of recommended meat products. It is sold at various outlets including Costco and Wegmans. At Wegmans in the Baltimore area it is displayed next to glatt Kosher meat, and it is very easy to confuse the two products.

Kirkland freeze dried fruit and Dole bagged salad recalled due to contamination risk: Food and Drug recalls

kirklandslicedfruitjpg-c6466b25721954ae(Plain Dealer)  Kirkland brand freeze-dried fruit sold in Costco stores and Dole bagged salads are being recalled in several states due to a risk of contamination with potentially deadly bacteria.

Oregon Freeze Dry, Inc. of Albany, OR is recalling almost 60,000 cases of the Kirkland  Signature Real Sliced Fruit, sold only in Costco stores, according to a news release. The freeze-dried fruit, sold in a red and white case containing 20 pouches, may be contaminated with salmonella.
