Every month in 2013, Torah LIFE Kollel, under the leadership of Rabbi Boruch Hirschfeld, will be raffling off fantastic prizes! Every prize is worth 500- 1000 dollars! For ONLY $7.20 a month or $72 a year you can be entered into the raffle every month and you will have the zechus of supporting Torah. This month’s raffle is a Home Package which includes 20 hours of cleaning help, a beautiful framed 16×20 painted portrait of your favorite photo or gadol of your choice, a set of linen, and a steam mop. Retail value for the package is about $1000.00.

New Acacia Reservation Metro Park In Our Midst

A brand new park is open on the former site of the Acacia Country Club (Cedar & Richmond) in Lyndhurst just in time for Pesach, hopefully with good weather coming along with it. This park features a few lakes, trails (1.7 mi paved loop path), and perhaps a soon-to-come sledding hill. The existing club house may one day be a good location for public events.

The Acacia Reservation, a 155-acre Cleveland MetroParks site, was bought for $14.75 million by Arlington, Va.-based Conservation Fund in December, which in turn donated the site to the parks system.

The Cedar Road park just outside Beachwood’s borders has a 1.7-mile loop — part of the paved path that was there when it was a country club — and green space that patrons can use.

Marle Boutique Pre- Yom Tov Hours

Marle Boutique will be having special evening hours from 8-10 pm beginning Wednesday, March 13th. The dates of the evening hours are as follows: Wed. the 13th, Thurs., the 14th, and Sun, the 17th through Wed., the 20th. If you would like to come during the day, please call Mariam at 780-5955. We are fully stocked with gorgeous hair accessories, socks, snoods and hosiery for Yom Tov. Come early for best selection. Looking forward to seeing you, Mariam and Leah.

New Ways to Donate Your Chometz This Year

In a partnership with Chaverim, Matan B’Sayser will be offering a new way to donate your chometz this year in addition to the previous drop-off points at shuls.

On Sunday, March 17th, Chaverim will be stationed at various places and times with a van ready to receive your donated chometz.

  • 12- 1pm: Jeanette (betweeen Bendemeer & Shannon)
  • 1- 2pm: Staunton (between Bendemeer & Shannon)
  • 2:30 – 4pm: Young Israel of Beachwood
  • 7- 8:30pm: Telshe Yeshiva Beis Midrash
  • And also all day at Kemach (Monday)!

No box this year at Zichron Chaim. Added box at  Heights Jewish Center. No box at Telshe Yeshiva this year.

Also, we are looking for an alternate garage for storage in University Heights or Beachwood. If you have space, let us know.

Needed Books for the Heights Jewish Ctr 4th Annual Book Sale

In Midwood, Brooklyn, there’s a luxury kosher grocery store called Pomegranate serving the modern Orthodox and Hasidic communities. It looks like a really nice Whole Foods. There’s a wide selection of kosher cheeses from Italy and France, wasabi herring, gluten-free ritual foods and nicely toned wood flooring.

Soulfarm featured at Mizrachi spring gala

SoulFarm(Cleveland Jewish News)

Noah Solomon, the lead singer of the music group Soulfarm, grew up next door to the late Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach in the village of Modi’im, Israel. Carlebach, known as “the singing rabbi,” had founded the village, which spawned numerous bands.

“Rebbe Shlomo taught me how to sing a song as a vehicle,” Solomon said recently. “He believed the music was not a goal but a vehicle to get to a higher state of consciousness. I very much believe the same thing.”
