O-U Jewish Communities and Job Relocation Fair in NY
WITH 41 PARTICIPANTS FROM COAST TO COAST, OU JEWISH COMMUNITIES AND JOB RELOCATION FAIR RETURNS SUNDAY, APRIL 21, NOON TO 6:00 P.M., IN NEW YORK; EMPHASIS IS ON AFFORDABILITY OF NEW PLACES
TO LIVE AN ORTHODOX LIFE
By Stephen Steiner
It was once an untested concept; now it is reality. When the Orthodox Union presented its first Jewish Communities Home and Job Relocation Fair, back in 2008, the visionary thought of then-OU President Stephen J. Savitsky was that there were “emerging” Orthodox communities across North America that would be thrilled to throw open their doors to families and individuals relocating from the most populous (and expensive) areas of Orthodox life, that is, the New York metropolitan area.

Eight Pieces of silk: What I could not tell my children
Local UH resident, Alex Zelczer, a Holocaust Survivor has recently written a book entitled Eight Pieces of silk: What I could not tell my children. A very brief article about the book and what the author wrote it appears in the Cleveland Magazine.
Today, over sixty years later, Alex can still hear those imploring words reverberating in his head. “As soon as we get through with this, return to Vásárosnamény. Don’t go anywhere else. Let us wait for each other at home,” his distraught father had entreated. Well, … the SS had other plans. Eight Pieces of Silk is the touching memoir of Alex Zelczer, a keen observer and astute reporter of the daily savagery and mayhem of Nazi-controlled Hungary. From the wretched ghetto streets to the ghastly concentration camp barracks, the reader is swept along on a virtual journey to a man made Hell.

… After sitting among some 600 people at the funeral service and listening to Rabbi Binyamin Blau of Green Road Synagogue, family and a friend describe her, I felt like I had known Sherman all my life.
Once the doors to the family visitation room opened, tears began to flow from the standing-room-only crowd. They didn’t stop during the 45-minute memorial tribute …

Yes, Readers – You Can Just Buy an Auto Vacuum Cleaner for Your “Old” Van
In response to many readers who wrote us regarding the article on a new minivan which features a built-in vacuum cleaner saying that it is silly to promote upgrading to a van because of the vacuum option, we are sharing that indeed one can easily buy a portable auto vacuum cleaner that fits into a car’s cigarette lighter and probably works just as well and costs a lot less. Here are many examples of this and thanks to our involved readers for their responses.
