Simchas Alta Vita Hachnosas Kallah Evening Reception
Simchas Alta Vita: Restoring Joy, Upholding Dignity
Still enveloped in the halo of her vort just two weeks before, Hadassah hummed to herself as she walked to her room, visions of lacy gowns and cascading flowers swirling in her mind.
Suddenly, she heard her father’s voice.
“I just don’t know how we are going to pull this off,” he was saying to her mother. “We’re maxxed out as it is. I can barely scrape together a down payment for the caterer – never mind sheitels and appliances!” (Learn more … ) [Read more…]

What is an Otzar Beis Din, and is it Good for the Jews? By Rabbi Yirmiyohu Kaganoff
(RabbiKaganoff.com)
Well, what do the words “Otzar Beis Din” mean? And, as an old friend of mine would ask, “Is an Otzar Beis Din good for the Jews or bad for the Jews?”
Literally, the words mean “a storehouse operated by Beis Din.” Why would Beis Din operate a warehouse? Is this some type of gmach or warehouse for impounded goods? Or a place where Beis Din stores people who are recalcitrant to follow its rulings? Although these might be good ideas, they have nothing to do with anOtzar Beis Din, which is a halachically approved method of distributing shmittah produce.
Before explaining what is an Otzar Beis Din, we must first review briefly the halachos of shmittah. These rules fall under two general categories:

New Web Site to Automate Tehillim Recitation
(Ed: TehilimYahad was shared some time ago and the review appears below. Since then the site had made a lot of updates including an English interface and some nice new features. It is truly an easy way to facilitate Tehilim recitation for someone in need as well as a quick destination for someone who is looking for a new cause in-need. Over 2.5 million chapters recited! This should be a zechus for Sarah bat Batya l’refuah shelaymah).
TehilimYahad.com (Tehillim Together) is a new Israel-based web site which automates the recitation of Tehillim for the sick. The site works great for someone who cannot commit to a daily schedule of Tehillim but wants to be able to jump in when they can and recite Tehillim as part of a group effort. The site tracks how much progress has been made in the recitation of the entire Sefer Tehillim, and automatically opens up to the next perek that needs to be said.
