Cleveland bike share could grow to more than 700 rentals by Republican convention

Cleveland’s fledgling bike share program could expand 10-fold or more next year, with a large stable of rental bikes in place by the time visitors arrive for the Republican National Convention and need a way to get around the central city.

The advocacy group Bike Cleveland is leading a push for a downtown and University Circle bike network that would be ready by spring 2016, with 500 to 850 bikes at 50 to 85 stations in the two districts. Bike rental stations in other Cleveland neighborhoods and suburbs would follow, if the program blossoms the way supporters hope.
