Volunteers Needed for Annual Fall Cemetery Cleanup

There is no greater mitzvah than caring for those who came before us. Volunteers are needed for the Annual Fall CemeteryCleanup hosted by the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Jewish Volunteer Network and the Commission on Cemetery Preservation (COCP). The event will take place on Sunday, August 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Chesed Shel Emeth (Ridge Road #1), 3740 Ridge Road, Cleveland. All ages are welcome to participate in this community-wide event, rain or shine.

Cleveland Heights is holding a live, free Town Hall meeting over the phone, Tuesday, August 25th at 6:30 pm. This Tele-town hall meeting  will give residents an opportunity to hear about and discuss important financial decisions facing our city. Police Chief Jeff Robertson, Fire Chief Dave Freeman and Public Works Director Alex Mannarino will discuss the impact of State cuts on public safety and City services in Cleveland Heights. Challenges Our Community Faces in the Cancer Journey

Over the past year Oncology Caregivers have joined together in developing and implementing a supportive program for our community. Following various situations in which community members have been diagnosed with cancer it appears that the community, including Rabbinic leadership, educators, organizations, and families, would benefit from education and interventions that would provide a comfort level in dealing with cancer.

New Westlake Jewish center to host High Holiday services in September

The local Jewish population has a new place to congregate with the opening of a Jewish center in Westlake, serving the western suburbs of Cleveland. “Chabad of the West Side” is now in operation, featuring Jewish education for adults and children, and Jewish cultural and social events.

“We are ecstatic about this new milestone,” says Rabbi Mendel Jacobs, who will be directing the center along with his wife, Devorah.
