Lyndhurst City Hall hosts first-ever menorah lighting ceremony

About 100 people gathered Thursday evening on the front front lawn of the Lyndhurst municipal complex to see a first.
The candles atop the large menorah that stands on the lawn along Mayfield Road during the Hannukah season were lit as part of a ceremony that included city officials and Rabbi Mendy Freedman.
“This is the first time in over 50 years that we have lit a menorah on public property in Lyndhurst,” said Mayor Joseph Cicero, who later clarified that it is believed to be the first time ever.

Siddurim, Chumashim, and Other Seforim Being Given Away IN BULK
A large quantity (approx. 200) of Siddurim, Chumashim and some other seforim are available to be given away in bulk to a shul, yeshiva or any other taker that would make good use of them. They are presently in use at Zichron Chaim but a shul member wants to replace most or all of them with new. It would be a pity to put these into a shaimos since they are still usable and in relatively good condition. Please contact morglick@gmail.com for bulk acquisition inquiries.

The penalty for failing to have health insurance is going up, perhaps even higher than you expected.
Among uninsured individuals who are not exempt from the Affordable Care Act penalty, the average household fine for not having insurance in 2015 will be $661, rising to $969 per household in 2016, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation analysis. Individuals will pay the penalty when they complete their federal taxes the following spring. (Kaiser Health News is an editorially independent program of the Foundation.)
