Cleveland Metroparks Touch‐a‐Truck Event

sewertruckThe Cleveland Metroparks are sponsoring a truck event for kids, big and small.   The Touch‐a‐Truck event will be held on Sunday, August 18 from 11 a.m.‐4 p.m. at the Park Operations Center in the Mill Stream Run Reservation in Strongsville.  There will be over 30 pieces of equipment on display.  Kids can climb on the equipment, sit in the truck cabs, and learn why they are used and how they operate.  A giant two ton sand pit will be open for creative fun.    Free construction hats will be distributed while supplies last.

In this week’s parshah, we study how the nation of Moav hired the evil Bilaam to curse the Jewish people. To guarantee that individuals who have inherited such disturbing character traits do not damage Klal Yisroel’s  pristine moral nature, the Torah prohibits a Moavite from marrying into Klal Yisroel. As the Torah expresses itself:

An Ammonite or a Moavite may not enter the congregation of Hashem. Even the tenth generation is not to enter the congregation of Hashem, forever. Because of the fact that they did not come forward with bread and water when you were on your way out of Mitzrayim, and because of the fact that they hired Bilaam ben Be’or of Pesor, Aram Naharayim, to curse you (Devarim 23:4, 5).

Cleveland Sephardic Minyan – Selichot and Kabbalat Shabbat

The Cleveland Sephardic Minyan is meeting again this year throughout the month of Elul for early morning Selichot services.

Join us at 5:45am each weekday, and 7:00am on Sunday for a rousing and uplifting Sephardi Selichot davening followed by Shacharit.

The minyan is hosted with the generous support of Green Road Synagogue, 2437 South Green Rd. in Beachwood

If that’s not enough, join us year-round for Kabbalat Shabbat services at the Beachwood Kollel building (2203 S. Green Road, next to the Waxman Center and just off Cedar Rd.)
