Agudath Israel of America Makes Presentation on Halachic Living Wills in Columbus (Video)

motzenhalachic(Rabbi Yitz Frank, Ohio Director) The annual dinner of the Columbus Chevra Kadisha – Burial Society this past Sunday featured an important panel discussion arranged by Agudath Israel of America. More than 75 people gathered to hear the expert panel discuss the topic of “Halachic Living Wills: Why every person needs one.”

 The panel featured Rabbi A. D. Motzen, national director of state relations for Agudath Israel of America, Dr. Jay Bernstein, MD, MPH, FACEP, an experienced emergency room physician in Cincinnati, and a video presentation by Harry M. Brown, Esq., partner at Benesch Law, longtime Agudath Israel board member, and the drafter of Agudah’s Ohio form. The panel was moderated by Rabbi Chaim Yosef Ackerman of Ahavas Sholom Congregation.

Recall: Nearly 900,000 Honda Odyssey Minivans 05-10

Honda will voluntarily recall 886,815 Odyssey minivans from the 2005-2010 model-years in the United States to replace the fuel strainer, free of charge.
Prolonged exposure to acidic chemicals, which are present in some car wash formulas and the general environment, along with high ambient temperatures, may cause the cover of the fuel strainer to deteriorate prematurely, resulting in cracks in the material.

Shabbos Zachor for Sefardim

Many poskim state that it is important that every person (including women) hear the Maftir in one’s own nusach. For the Sephardic community in Cleveland, this can present a challenge since most synagogues lein in Ashkenazi nusach.

Therefore, the hashkama minyan at the Beachwood Kollel building (2203 South Green Road) will have a reading in Sephardi nusach. For those interested in attending, Shacharit begins at 8:00am, with the Torah reading beginning at about 9:00. Please join us for this important mitzvah!
