Federation unveils security vehicle

Security is a top priority in the Jewish community and it has become a growing concern as anti-Semitic and terror attacks take place around the world. To strengthen security within the local community, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland has acquired a mobile patrol unit.
“We knew we wanted to have a mobile presence from the beginning when we enhanced the security this past summer,” said Stephen H. Hoffman, president of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland.

Kashrus of Ricola Products (When Not Bearing a Hechsher)
There have been some changes in the kashrus status per the cRc of Ricola products over the years. Aside from the special runs that sell at the kosher stores, some years Ricola (as sold in stores without a hechsher) has been approved for use and appeared on their list and other years not. Most recently it was removed from their list pending a more comprehensive examination. As of now, the cRc has concluded its review of Ricola, and recommends the following Ricola products even when not bearing a hechsher:

- Ricola Honey Lemon with Echinacea

Severe Cold & Shabbos – A Recommendation

Anyone above the age of 80 should not go out on Shabbos if the weather is severely cold (say less than or equal to 10 degrees Fahrenheit). People from 75-80 and/or having respiratory problems (COPD/asthma) and/or compromised circulation should think very carefully before going out. This includes walking home from shul on Friday night and walking to shul on Shabbos morning.
