Dear Members of the Cleveland Community,

An individual from Israel recently received a letter from the Vaad Hatzedakos to raise funds in Cleveland. It has come to our attention that upon a review of their accounts, a member of the community noticed that a check given to this individual and written to Chasdie Tovim Meoros was used to create a dummy (fake) check, which was then deposited. While we cannot be sure if this individual was responsible, the individual was flagged in the database that we share with a number of cities around the country.

We are notifying you so that you can review your accounts.

In light of this incident, it is worth reiterating that individuals raising funds in Cleveland should be encouraged to obtain a certificate from the Vaad Hatzedakos. The Vaad is available every day and is easy to contact. Participation in this program helps prevent questionable activity and ensures that members of the community can have confidence in their philanthropic activities.

We regret to inform you of Rose Furer, mother of Tally Rush.  The funeral is Thursday in Florida.  Tally will return to Cleveland on Friday afternoon to sit shiva at her home, 23103 Beachwood Blvd.  Shiva details to follow.

We regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Mordechai (Morton ) Kriger, father of Mrs. Monica Goldstein.

The Levaya will be today at noon today, Sunday, at Boulevard-Riverside Hewlett. Call in number pending.

Eretz Yisroel levaya at 1pm Monday at Shmagar. Kevura at Har Hazaysim.

Shiva Monday and Tuesday at Shaarei Chesed, 9 Diskin Villa 14 followed by United States Shiva at 333 Ocean Ave Lawrence, NY until Sunday morning.

Updated Cleveland Tehillim List Now Available

An updated Tehillim List of the Cleveland Tehillim Chevra is now available.

The list is published as a partnership between Local Jewish News and Mrs. Chanie Malcmacher in the hope that it will cause even more community members to be mispalel on behalf of those in need. It will continue its practice of approximately six bi-monthly print editions.

In order to maintain seder, the following long-standing guidelines remain in place for the inclusion of a name:

  • The choleh must be a Clevelander or the direct relative of a Clevelander
  • The exactly correct Hebrew name and its correct spelling must be provided
  • Permission of the family must have been obtained
  • The choleh must be reconfirmed for each edition of the list

Currently, the community has the merit of completing the entire Tehillim nearly two times daily. To participate in a daily completion of the Tehillim, please email Mrs. Malcmacher at justdaven@gmail.com.
