When the Republican National Convention comes to town in a few weeks, getting downtown will be a little trickier for Northeast Ohioans.

The U.S. Secret Service on June 30 revealed its transportation plan, which calls for the closing of numerous streets around the main areas of the convention -– Quicken Loans Arena and Huntington Convention Center -– where there will be a security perimeter in place. And, during the evening hours of the convention, even a portion of the Inner Belt will be closed.

Thanks to the Blanche Ave Neighborhood Organization (includes residents from the dead end to Taylor Rd) a new fence was erected at the dead end of Blanche and Revere just behind Oakwood/ Walmart. Three years ago residents campaigned to improve/ rebuild the  fence to prevent trespassing as people seek a shorter way to Walmart from Revere Rd. The cities of South Euclid and Cleveland Heights both share the fence.

The Republican Jewish Coalition  presents their “Salute to Pro-Israel Elected Officials” event happening on Thursday, July 21st from 4pm – 6pm at the Playhouse Square State Theatre on Euclid Avenue.  This event is open to the public and free of charge – more details can be found here.
