We regret to inform you of the passing of Ana Meller  (Hinda bas Yoseph), sister of Mr.Hulio Ejbszyc. He will be sitting shiva for his sister at his home,  2022 Revere Road in Cleveland Heights. Monday– Friday morning; 4:30 pm-7:30pm.  Mincha at 6:30 followed by Maariv.

Tehillim Gathering for Rebbetzin Miriam Barkin,shetich’ye WEDNESDAY NIGHT

PLEASE NOTE ADDED LOCATIONS AND CORRECTION OF HEBREW NAME:
To accommodate logistical limitations, we will be having Tehillim for MIRIAM PENINA BAS NECHAMA (Reb. Miriam Barkin) at two locations. In Cleveland Heights Tehillim will be held at 3689 Bendemeer Road at9:00 PM.  In University Heights/Beachwood Tehillim will be held at 4513 Churchill Blvd (downstairs) at 9:00 PM. May we be zocheh to hear b’soros tovos b’korov!
Also, by the way – when asked what she would like people to work on as a zechus for her refuoh sheleimo, she would say that she would appreciate if people could work on Simchas Hachayim l’zechusoh.

We regret to inform you of the passing of GERALDINE E. MENDELSOHN who passed away October 11, 2015. Devoted mother of Nadine (David) Mendelsohn-Ziskind of Mobile, AL; dear sister of Tamara Zisla, Michele Mendelsohn, Mervin (Caren) Mendelsohn and Ronnie Jeannie) Mendelsohn (deceased); beloved daughter of Harry and Lois Mendelsohn (both deceased); loving grandmother and great-grandmother; cherished aunt and great-aunt. Graveside services will be held in Mt. Olive Cemetery (Forest City Hebrew Benevolent Association section) 27855 Aurora Rd., Solon, on Tuesday, October 13 at 12 noon. The family will receive friends FOLLOWING BURIAL UNTIL 6 PM at Menorah Park, 27100 Cedar Rd, Beachwood.

We regret to inform you of the passing of the mother of Dr. Barry Brenner.  He is sitting shiva from Monday, Oct. 12th until Thursday morning, October 15th at 3495 Shannon Rd.  Shacharis 7:30 a.m. (for Monday only this time is not confirmed).  Mincha/Maariv 6:35 p.m.
We regret to inform you of the passing of Greta Pickus., mother of Melody Pickus. Melody will be sitting at the home of her daughter & son in law, Crystal & Mark/Menachem Selent, 4493 Silsby, University Hts.Monday–Wednesday 1-8 PM.

Aerobics Classes at Mika’s

Aerobics classes now are being offered at Mika’s on Green Rd. for 5 weeks – twice a week starting October 25th,   on Sundays 11:00-12:00pm and Wednesdays 7:00-8:00pm. Space is limited  For more information please call Rozita Weiss (216)299-5821. Also, regular Zumba classes are held on  Wednesday’s 8:00-9:00pm.

New Shabbos Vasikin Minyan

There is a growing interest in starting a consistent Shabbos Vasikin Minyan in University Heights. If you are interested in being involved, either partially or consistently, please email rabbiarieh@ncsy.org. The group is interested in actively reaching out to the local minyanim to ensure minimal conflict and is open to all feedback.

Sukkah at MetroHealth facility may be first of its kind

Sholom Schonfeld may have made history at MetroHealth Old Brooklyn Health Center in Cleveland when he erected possibly the first sukkah on MetroHealth grounds.

Schonfeld, a member of Ahavas Yisroel synagogue in Cleveland Heights, built the sukkah so that he could spend the holiday with his son, who is in rehab. His son is a student at Telshe Yeshiva in Wickliffe.

General Election November 3rd

Everyone should please be aware that November is time to VOTE! Don’t forget what a difference our community’s vote made in the last election (school levy, etc) !! This election has some major issues such as the Cleveland Heights Income Tax, City Council (UH, CH, and Beachwood) and CHUH School Board, marijuana and cigarette tax issues, and many more important things.
So PLEASE:
(a) Apply for absentee ballot now if you anticipate not making it to the polls. Anyone can request one – there is no reason needed. One month before the election, one can both request a ballot and submit it. Click here for more info and forms >>
(b) Remind bochurim and students who are home now and over 18 to make use of the absentee ballot before they head out of town.
(c) Anyone who is not registered should do so NOW before the primary in the spring.  It is too late to register for the November election (30 days before). As long as you will be l be 18 by the election, you can register. If you moved and need to update your registration you can still vote by provisional ballot and just change your voting place for next time.  Click here to confirm that you are registered or to register for the first time >>
