Clocks Turn Back – What are you going to do with this gift?

alarm clockThis Sunday at 2am the clocks revert back to regular time and Daylight Savings Time comes to an end. What are you going to do with this gift of an hour? Something that you said you would do if only you had the time …. a special melave malka with the family? Time to focus on learning? A unique chesed? organize your hovos or ma’aser obligations? Send a thank you letter? Learn the deeper meaning of a part of davening that you say every day? Daven for a choleh or someone who needs  a shidduch? Make an effort to make a shidduch? Thank your spouse? Call your parents? Exercise? Lock your cell phone in your desk and be yourself? Make a plan to appreciate and utilize this extra time.

votebadgeAs always, these elections are important.  These are local and as such means that there is the smallest pool of people voting for each office that is up for election.  That means your vote means even more this time.   Issues like tax hikes, renewals and redistricting are all significant and this is your opportunity to show that you care about them and show the politicians that you count.   When officials see we vote, they know they have to continue to earn it.  As always, these are suggestions based on my research. I encourage everyone to know the issues and the candidates and make informed decisions.  Please consider voting for the following and see the expanded explanations at the bottom.

City of Cleveland Heights Council At Large:  vote for up to three out of six:  Keba Sylla, Khalil Seren, and Tas Nadas

City of University Heights Council: (vote 4 of 3)  There are 3 candidates running for 4 open seats and showing them our support makes good sense for our community  and is certainly  an easy choice in a race as uncontentious as this one with good candidates.

Career Doors Open With Coding (Computer Programming) Jobs

In response to this increased need, a number of creative options have popped up that allow regular people to learn this valuable skill without having to attend college or get a special degree and to do so fast. This may be an ideal option for the frum job seeker.

Residents unhappy about University Heights Library’s plan to expand parking lot on Fenwick Road

Several residents living in the vicinity of the University Heights Library say they like the institution, but aren’t happy with its plans for growth.

Since the winter of 2014, the library, at Cedar and Fenwick roads, has been planning to expand both its building footprint, by approximately 5,000 square feet, and its parking lot. It’s the parking lot expansion that has residents of nearby Washington Boulevard particularly concerned.
