“When I shopped in Israel, I noticed that all the chickens were split open. I like to roast my chicken whole and stuff the inside, but you can’t do this once the chicken is split open. When I asked the butcher for an explanation, he told me that all the mehadrin hechsherim split the chicken open before kashering. What does a split chicken have to do with kashrus?

Yeshiva High’s 9th-grade class has unanimously achieved general studies honor roll.
The school, which currently is located in the Taylor Road Synagogue, opened its doors in September, 2014.
“Our inaugural class certainly has set the tone for future students,” said school director Rabbi Yeshai Kutoff. “Straight A’s for all students — which is what our boys accomplished — is something great to live up to.”
