More Israeli Peppers – Now at Costco

January 18, 2015 Leave a Comment

productofIsraelCostco peppers variety packs come in a bag of 2 yellow, 2 orange and 2 red. In very small letters, it is written on the outside of the package, “product of Mexico and Israel.”  However, when you look at the inside contents all is not so clear. The yellow and orange peppers have stickers that say product of Mexico and the red peppers have no stickers so it is safe to say that these must be the “made in Israel” peppers. Not very clear.
If you have already bought them, you should realize that the peppers have kedushas shviis and may even be sefichim. Either way you must contact your Rabbi for guidance how to deal with them in an appropriate Halachic manner.
