The Hebrew Academy of Cleveland has just released that they have been granted an option to purchase the former Oakwood Country Club property situated between Andrews Road and Warrensville Center Road in Cleveland Heights. The school’s board has voted unanimously to accept and to purchase this 90 acre property.
HAC writes in a letter to parents that owning this property will allow them to offer space and state-of-the-art services for its growing student body, as well as to connect the various Jewish communities nearby, and to anchor the Cleveland Heights community. Further they remain committed to the South Taylor location. No formal decisions about usage have yet been made but will be developing in months to come.
This is great news for the Hebrew Academy, the Jewish Community of Cleveland, and the whole geographical area. Mazal tov!

Use it to develop programs for special-needs students academically, psychologically, and socially; develop a joint program with local colleges and universities offering their graduate students internships and externships. Keep a Simcha hall that you can rent for weddings and other Simchas. Expand curriculum in the Health and Sciences fields, creative and performing arts. Obviously, make a nice Shul on those grounds.
While taking strictest measures to ensure the safety and well being of students, faculty, and staff, you could cordon off a section to be developed into office pods where you could rent desk space to people for short term or long term use. Mazel Tov on your expansion.
Another idea is to develop Shabbos and Yom Tov apartments on the premises. Guests of Baalei Simcha could stay there for less money than at major hotels. Or create a Shabbos/ Yom Tov getaway for locals.

Does this mean that HAC will no longer need the Mesivta campus? I wonder if it is worth some money to the college or whatever.

Totally exciting news.
If other land purposes besides educational are being considered, I’ve wondered if it wasn’t time for the Bikkur Cholim to consider a frum assisted living option nearby.
And speaking of supporting the adjoining communities, I also wonder if South Euclid will become considered for housing with a shul/school option at hand.
Between this and Mosdos/Millikin this is really an exciting time of growth for the Cleveland Heights area! Mazel Tov.

What impact will this have for Mosdos when they go to sell their boys building after moving in to Millikin
And can anyone address any tax implications with a non-profit purchasing that land. Does it make a difference? OR will taxes go up to compensate for the city’s loss (or does it take a loss with a NFP?) OR will the value simply rise naturally and taxes along with?
Will there be a playground/local use park. Bnos Pirchei options up that way now?
Will they preserve the integrity of the neighborhood with a” no-cut-though” so cross traffic won’t increase?
I’m sure it’s too early to answer them all, but these questions pop out at me
Altogether, it sounds like a wonderful opportunity for the whole community the HAC has opened up.

I think HAC should Merge with Mosdos
