(Cleveland Jewish News)

Former Maccabi Tel Aviv coach David Blatt has been hired as the next head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to David Pick, senior correspondent at Eurobasket.com and ONE.co.il, who tweeted that Blatt confirmed the deal.

Blatt will become the team’s 20th head coach – and the first coach to make a direct transition from coaching in Europe to being an NBA head coach.

One of the most well-known ma’asim involving HaRav Chaim Shmuelevitz, Z’tl, was when the Mirrer Yeshiva was about to recite Tehillim for the Jews kidnapped in Entebbe.  Before the Yeshiva began, HaRav Shmuelevitz urged everyone gathered to view the hostages as his own close family members–and to recite Tehillim with this view.

(Letter from University Heights Mayor Susan Infield)

Hello,

As you are likely aware, Wiley Middle School closed permanently earlier this month and the students have been reassigned to Monticello or Roxboro Middle Schools.

The School District has submitted plans to the City for conversion of the Wiley site to a temporary location for Cleveland Heights High School while the high school is being renovated and rebuilt in Cleveland Heights.

The School District proposes to construct the necessary buildings, etc. at the Wiley site during the upcoming (fall 2014) school year. Following that, for the school years beginning fall 2015 and fall 2016, the high school will relocate to the Wiley site. The District plans to return the students to the new Cleveland Heights High School in fall 2017.

Community members are trying to establish a daily mincha gedolah minyan in the summer  at the Alexander Shteibel. Minyan would start promptly at the exact zman for mincha gedolah which for today is 2:06pm. People who are interested should email rabbiarieh@ncsy.org.
