Asian Coleslaw – This coleslaw has roasted almonds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, and browned ramen noodles, in a sweet balsamic and soy sauce.  Medium – $5.50  Large – $11.00.

Caesar’s Salad with Homemade Croutons – Romaine lettuce, with green and red onions dressed in a creamy Cesar’s dressing that has a hint of lemon, and toped with sea salt croutons made from fresh bread. We regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Arlene Nehamkin (mother of Fruma (Marcy) Mehl. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 10 at Bet Olam Cemetery, at 1:00 p.m. Shiva will be observed at 4221 Hinsdale Rd in South Euclid.

Casspi to Sign with Houston Rockets for $2 Million

A week after the Cleveland Cavaliers made Omri Casspi an unrestricted free agent by not picking up his option, the NBA’s first Israeli-born player said he expects to sign with the Houston Rockets.

He will join all-stars Dwight Howard and James Harden after agreeing to a two-year deal with the franchise July 6, according to reports.

Kosher Food Bank Recognition Celebration

Every week, without fail, the volunteers for the Kosher Food Bank are there, with dedication, commitment and a warm heart! We could not have accomplished this without them.

On Sunday July 21st, 7:00 pm we will be hosting our Kosher Food Bank Recognition Celebration, and you are invited to help honor the 50 volunteers, who have been an inspiration. They will be presented with the Rebbetzin Kazen Volunteer Award. The program will take place at the Waxman Chabad Center 2479 South Green Road, Beachwood Ohio.

Camp STEP Choir Comes to Montefiore

The Camp STEP Boys Choir, under the leadership of Rabbi Chaim Ellis, will be making its 7th appearance for a Summer Bein HaMetzarim Concert. Over 40 boys, in bow ties and formal attire, present to the residents of Montefiore a repertoire in the spirit of the 9 Days. Parents and all community members are welcome to attend. Not to be missed!

Friday, July 12th, 2pm.  Montefiore Auditorium.

Question #1: “A frum person invited me to a fleishig sheva berachos during the first days of Av. Can he make a sheva berachos and serve meat during this week? May I eat meat there?”

Question #2: “I am traveling during the Nine Days, and the airline serves me a fleishig meal. May I eat it?”

Question #3: “What should I do if I make a beracha on meat and then realize that it is the Nine Days and that I may not eat it?”

Rabbi Israel Porath, zt”l Remembered On Cleveland Jewish History Website

I am glad to inform the Cleveland Jewish News and its readers of a new website dedicated to the memory of my grandfather, Rabbi Israel Porath zt”l, who served Cleveland’s Oheb Zedek, N’vai Zedek and Heights Jewish Center for nearly five decades. For many years, as leader of the Orthodox Rabbinical Council (Merkaz Harabbanim), he was regarded as the dean of Cleveland’s Orthodox rabbis.

Family members in Cleveland and in Israel furnished pictures, clippings and stories to Arnold Berger, who used them to create a new section of the Cleveland Jewish History website.
