In response to many readers who wrote us regarding the article on a new minivan which features a built-in vacuum cleaner saying that it is silly to promote upgrading to a van because of the vacuum option, we are sharing that indeed one can easily buy a portable auto vacuum cleaner that fits into a car’s cigarette lighter and probably works just as well and costs a lot less. Here are many examples of this and thanks to our involved readers for their responses.

Do your shlissel challahs (key-shaped (or containing a key) challah baked for first Shabbos after Pesach) lose their key shape during baking? Last year, we found that the challah comes out looking pretty good if you shape the entire challah as an old-fashioned key, like this: use three small balls of dough at one end (arranged in a sort of triangle configuration), attach them to a long piece of dough, and stick two short straight pieces of dough on one side of the long straight piece (to look like the “bit” of the key). Let the challah rise long enough so the pieces smoosh together a bit, then egg and bake. Enjoy!

Minivans don’t get much credit for bleeding edge technology, and even though more American families than ever want three rows of seats in their vehicle, minivan sales have stagnated for years. For a 2014 model refresh, the Honda Odyssey‘s engineers came up with something unique — a built-in vacuum that can clean the entire car. Who says minivans have to suck? It sounds like a joke, except that after using the HondaVac — yes, it has a name — it’s not hard to see every minivan buyer asking why they can’t have the same toy.
