Find Greater Cleveland’s speed traps: Linndale, Bratenahl and others (interactive map)
(Plain Dealer)(Ed: The purpose of this posting is not to promote speeding in case it was not clear.)
Linndale long has had a reputation as the speed trap king in Greater Cleveland. Bratenahl and North Randall police are among the other big ticket writers considering the size of each village.
Are there speed traps on your way to work, or on your drives around town to shop and play?
Reporter Patrick Cooley of the Northeast Ohio Media Group tracked down traffic ticket records for Cuyahoga County communities and came up with a ranking, based on the tickets written and the population of each town.

Rabbi Levine’s widow speaks with the CJN
(Cleveland Jewish News)
During shiva after the murder of her husband in a terrorist attack on their neighborhood synagogue in Jerusalem Nov. 18, Chaya Levine – formerly Marilyn Markovitz of University Heights – joined the three other women whose husbands had been killed in the attack and sent out an appeal for love and unity between families, communities and all ethnic groups.
“It is so painful, we are all good friends,” Levine, a Hebrew Academy of Cleveland alumna and 1978 graduate of Yavne Academy, told the Cleveland Jewish News after getting up from shiva. “We asked for a Shabbos of unity, to give charity and any acts of kindness people can do.”

Halachos of VeSein Tal U’Matar Livracha by Rabbi Yisroel Dov Webster, Shlita,
(Hakhel)
- If one omitted “VeSein Tal U’Matar Livracha” during the winter months, and remembered while still in middle of the bracha of Bareich Aleinu, before saying the Hashem’s name at the end, he should return to “ VeSein Tal U’Matar Livracha” and continue from there once again.
- If one already said Hashem’s name at the end of the bracha, one does not go back, but rather finishes the bracha and continues until the bracha of Shema Koleinu. In Shema Koleinu, before one says Ki Ata near the end of the bracha one adds the words VeSein Tal U’Matar Livracha (and no further text) and then continues with Ki Ata and concludes the bracha of Shema Koleinu. (Shulchan Aruch (117:5), Kitzur Shulchan Aruch (19:6) and Kaf HaChaim (117:37)). The Aruch HaShulchan (117:6) seems to say that according to some, additional words are added, i.e. “Al Pnei Ha’adama…”, presumably in order to say a complete thought.

VeSein Tal U’matar Livracha Thursday Night
Thursday night- those who currently reside in Chutz La’Aretz will begin reciting VeSein Tal U’Matar Livracha.
If one forgot to make this change, the above phrase may be added in the bracha of Shma Koleinu before the phrase “ki atoh shomeiah”. If one completed the Shmoneh Esray without making the appropriate change, the entire Shemonah Esray must be repeated (Rabbi N. Bernstein).
(Hakhel)
As we begin, let us reflect–is not the standard term for rain ‘Geshem’–if so, why do we specifically request Matar in the bracha?
