Rabbi Dr. Dovid Gottlieb will be speaking Shabbos morning in the Stone Synagogue main shul before Musaf.
Rabbi Dr. Akiva Tatz will speak on “Judaism and the New Genetics” Shabbas afternoon at 5:15 pm at The Young Israel of Greater Cleveland.
Rabbi Dr. Dovid Gottlieb is a senior faculty member at Ohr Somayach in Jerusalem. An author and lecturer, Rabbi Gottlieb received his Ph.D. in mathematical logic at Brandeis University and later become Professor of Philosophy at Johns Hopkins University. His book Ontological Economy: Substitutional Quantification and Mathematics was published by Oxford in 1980; The Informed Soul was published by Artscroll in 1990, and has recently been reprinted. He is a regular lecturer at kiruv conferences and known for his stimulating and energetic presentations on philosophical issues of Jewish interest.
Rabbi Dr. Akiva Tatz, Senior Lecturer at the JLE, was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. After practicing as a doctor in both South Africa and the U.S., he moved to Israel where he practiced both in hospital and general medicine in Jerusalem and engaged in a number of years Talmudic study and later teaching in Jewish thought and medical ethics in Jerusalem.
He is the Founder and Director of the Jerusalem Medical Ethics Forum and has written a number of books on the subject of Jewish Thought and Philosophy, as well as the book, “Dangerous Disease & Dangerous Therapy in Jewish Medical Ethics”
