(Cleveland Heights Patch)

Cleveland Magazine released its annual Rating the Suburbs issue. Find out how Cleveland Heights compared to the 76 other communities on the list.

Cleveland Magazine may not have ranked Cleveland Heights as one of its top 20 cities in the annual “Rating the Suburbs” issue, but the community did top the charts in some categories.

Let me get this straight. CH has 109 police officers – more than any other suburb – but ranked 63 out of 77 in safety? What’s wrong with that picture?

It also disturbed me. But the way that Cleveland magazine reports crime says little about the type of crimes. Perhaps neighborhoods with a lot of shopping, malls end up having lots of petty theft and that is why Beachwood for example, also has a very high incidence of crimes.

Is this Local Jewish News or Local Cleveland Heights Jewish News? Noticed Beachwood (also a Jewish area) actually made the list and didn’t get its own post here.

Dear “Someone,” Akiva linked to a post on CH Patch and you really think he should have posted a separate link to the Beachwood Patch, both telling readers about the exact same “rating the burbs” article? Why? And P.S. I’m a personal friend of Akiva and maybe you don’t realize how much time goes into running this site. He does it as a community service. Advertising revenues don’t come anywhere near compensating him for his work. Thank you Akiva for creating a site which allows people to know what’s going on in the frum community. We really appreciate all your hard work!

This rating has Cleveland Heights rated (63 out of 77) with less crime than Beachwood (64 out of 77) or University Heights (67 out of 77). Especially considering that Cleveland Heights borders East Cleveland and the city of Cleveland clearly demonstrates that Cleveland Heights is a safe community (cheers to the CH Police). As a former Beachwood resident and current Cleveland Heights resident, I have always felt safe in both cities.

Thanks loyal Beachwood resident. There is no article online summarizing the results for Beachwood. Not Bwood Patch nor Cleveland Magazine. Cleveland Mag wants you to buy the issue so there is no online content really.

I wasn’t suggesting an outside article on Beachwood, but a hat tip to a Jewish area that did make it on the list would have been nice. Nearly all of the city based news on here is about Cleveland Heights. I have no doubt that Akiva puts a lot of effort into this and “hakaras hatov” my comment said nothing going against that. I wasn’t aware that I wasn’t allowed to voice my opinion on how this site might be more non-Cleveland Heights resident friendly.
